Yossi “very happy” at Anfield

Yossi Benayoun

Yossi Benayoun

Yossi Benayoun has insisted that he is very happy at Anfield. Rumors stated that Manchester City were intrested in signing him in the January transfer window, but midfielder Benayoun, who signed a 2 year extension contract with Liverpool in July, said he is very happy at the club. His agent, Ronan Katsav, said:

Naturally a player playing well at Liverpool will always have other teams interested in him.

It is a great compliment that there is interest from high level teams across Europe, but Yossi is very happy at Liverpool and only in the summer agreed a new contract for another four seasons.

Leeds vs Liverpool Carling Cup 2009

Leeds will play Liverpool on Tuesday, in the Carling Cup. This should be a good match, as the 2 teams haven’t met for about 5 years. The game will be held at Ellen Road, which means Liverpool would’ve had to travel from London to Leeds in the space of a few days. Agger could start, but Aquilani and El Zhar are still injured. League 1 side Leeds have made a good start to the season, but have they got what it takes to beat the odds and come out of Ellen road the winners, and leave Liverpool crashing out the Carling Cup? We’ll find out soon.

TV: Sky Sports. Kick off approx 7:45 PM UK

West Ham 2-3 Liverpool

Liverpool are now back on track after another 3-2 win at Upton Park, the same score as when they went to the Reebok. Fernando Torres opened the scoring after Carlton Cole had hit the post following a mistake from Jamie Carragher. Jamie Carragher later conceded a penalty, which West Ham converted. That score though wasn’t to last, as Steven Gerrard’s header touched Kuyt and went into the bottom corner of the net. In stoppage time of the first half, Carlton Cole headed in from a corner kick, which meant both teams went off the pitch at half time with the score of 2-2.

The second half began with both teams pushing for a second goal. Fernando Torres eventually got the winning goal with a header assisted by substitute Ryan Babel. West Ham were piling the pressure, but they couldn’t find the goal, so it’s Liverpool who took the 3 points at Upton Park, and next it’s trip to Ellen Road to face Leeds United.

West Ham vs Liverpool

Liverpool F.C will play West Ham at the late kick off time today. Aquilani is out but Aurelio is now fit and could make a start. Yossi Benayoun could also be set for a second start in a row after good performances against Debreceni and Burnley. Liverpool will be looking for another win in the league at Upton Park, and a few days after they will be visiting Ellen Road to face Leeds United in the Carling Cup.

West Ham will be without Lucas Neil, who has moved to Everton (even though the Transfer Window already closed) , so Fernando Torres will find it easier to get behind the West Ham defence.
